How many times have you found yourself a victim of saying, “I’ll start tomorrow”?
I know I have…
Sometimes, we fall in love with the idea of “starting later” because we know it’s easier. But what about starting NOW?
The notion of putting something in our calendar feeds us a rush of endorphins and makes us feel good. We tell ourselves, “oh I’ve got time for that”, but then something else pops up on your never-ending to-do list and you’re stuck focusing on that, which pushes your former task or goal to a later date.
This may burst a lot of bubbles, but when the new year hits you will be the exact same person as you were the day before. The differentiator between who you were yesterday, versus who you will be today, is actually DOING what it is you want to work on.
Your new year is not dependent upon it being January 1st. A “new you” is not dependent on writing out “resolutions”.
Your new life is entirely dependent on you actually starting, and starting is up to you. A new and improved life is not decided by the calendar or by the commercials that hit you with their “new year deals” to suck you into believing they’ll cure your answers.
The only person holding you back from starting your new year, now, is you.
Nobody is holding a gun to your head saying, “Listen, you better not work on yourself until AFTER January 1st…!”
Are you looking to begin working out more and creating better physical health in 2020? Fantastic! You’re on the right track to your self-improvement! But guess what, you can start that new year’s body today, if you want.
Now let me ask you this, what would be the benefit of starting later versus starting now?
Here’s a couple of ways you can start on your New Years goals, now:
- Write out the pro’s AND cons to starting now, and do the same for if you were to start later. Study the differences.
- Invest time into yourself to research top-performers in the area you want to improve on. Study what they are doing and model it.
- Take a hard look at your schedule and when you can realistically begin. Is starting in two weeks realistically better for you or are you just being lazy?

Are you ready to create a new you and a new life? If yes, then quit waiting!
You have time to finish out the calendar year strong, and to begin the new year and new life you’ve been craving! It’s time to get it going. Trust yourself, believe your efforts, and be open to learning!
Your new year starts when you decide it does. Not when the imaginary gun-slinger says it is.
