When we don’t know what’s coming next, we are often fearful.
Mystery can be unsettling.
But what about the beauty in mystery?
Think of your life last year, or five years ago, or even last week. Your life probably looks a lot different now than it did then. Of course, there were, and will be, obstacles. But how many good things came that you never expected? Those parts of life can be beautiful.
For example,
Maybe tomorrow you’ll meet the love of your life. Maybe tomorrow you’ll get that huge break you’ve been looking for. Maybe tomorrow you’ll happen to get free coffee for some reason.
Among all of the things that we don’t know, we can be sure that uncertainty is certain. Perhaps we can look at the mystery of tomorrow as a good thing.
How to Deal With Uncertainty
Sure bad things happen, but maybe when facing the unknown, we can attempt to be positively biased, rather than negatively biased. If you think about it, the energy you devote to being afraid could also be directed towards feeling hopeful.
A lot of people love a good mystery. Finding the clues in a good plot before the characters do. Feels good right? Life is a mystery, but perhaps you can look for clues along the way, clues that indicate you’re on your way to your goals.
Patrick Overton said it best:
“When you walk to the edge of all the light you have and take that first step into the darkness of the unknown, you must believe that one of two things will happen. There will be something solid for you to stand upon or you will be taught to fly.”
