Time to Recharge
Every night before bed, without fail, you probably plug in your iPhone (or Android, I don’t judge) to charge. Without much thought, this has probably become such an essential part of your daily routine that it’s a no brainer, right? Right. Well, when was the last time you charged your own mental batteries?
Every day you wake up, unplug your phone and get ready for the day.
I want you to consider how important it is for you to make sure your phone is charged. It helps you stay productive, connected, and on time.
When there’s the rare occasion that you forget to charge your phone, you’re a little inconvenienced right?
Sometimes in life, we get to a point where we feel drained, tired, and a little inconvenienced. It’s worth considering that maybe you haven’t recharged your own batteries in a while, so you feel less productive and less connected.
What if we recharged our own batteries as much as we charged our iPhone?
You can’t be running Snapchat, Instagram and Google Chrome all at the same time on a one percent phone battery right?
Enough with the phone analogy, I know. Let’s talk about you.
If you’re running on one percent all the time, it is going to be hard to manage work, family, relationships and exercise. You can’t possibly do all of those things with less than great energy. And that’s okay if you’ve been there or you’re there right now. We’ve all been there and you’re not the only one. What’s important is considering how we can get out of this place of running on empty.
So, how do you recharge your mental batteries?
Here are some ideas to get you started:
- Take a walk.
- Revisit your priorities. Are they really yours?
- Go on a run.
- Take a break.
- Take a shower.
- Do some yoga.
- Read a book.
- Write a poem.
- Call a friend.
- Make some tea, drink it slowly.
- Make a plan.
- Take a nap.
Most importantly, do what makes you feel refreshed. Everyone recharges differently. No matter how you do it, make sure you do it often.
