What Is A Limiting Belief?
A limiting belief is something that is NEITHER factual NOR reality since it hasn’t happened yet, but in your mind, it is completely true. Limiting beliefs trap you in your own mental cage and restricts you from exploring the unknown possibilities in front of you.
For a long time I kept telling myself:
“If I do 6 am workouts before my 9-5 job, I’ll be WAY too tired during the day and too tired to work on any of my coaching goals after work”
Talk about excuses to not leave my comfort zone…
What Did My Limiting Beliefs Do for Me?
This limiting belief required me to hit the gym immediately afterword, and in a hurry.
It caused me to have even LESS time to coach others, or to focus on learning new coaching techniques.
This limiting belief forced me to stay up way later than I needed to be and it made my mornings and routine increasingly more difficult due to a lack my lack of energy and rest.
All of this because I kept telling myself a LIMITING BELIEF that WASN’T EVEN TRUE.
Wtf? How wack is that?
What Did I Have to Do After Receiving This Feedback?
I had to PIVOT!
My pops and I began getting into a killer 6 am workout routine and guess what, I’m feeling absolutely incredible!
All it took was for me to create a slight change in my routine, and maintain will power to not give in to a limiting belief that wasn’t even tested out yet.
From my experience, I believe that the idea of “testing out” is one of the most challenging parts of stepping out of the comfort zone.
It’s unnerving because of the unknown.
But, who says the unknown has to be scary?
In my opinion, the unknown is great because you either:
- Discover an incredible result that takes you closer to your desired goal
- Receive feedback from your results which are defined by the actions you took
Because I stepped into the unknown of working out way earlier in the day, I’ve now got way more energy during the day, more focus on what I need during and after my 9-5 job, and even more time in the evenings to hone in on those two key qualities (time and energy) to boost my momentum forward as a coach.
